Meet the Principal

Judy Baumgardner, M.Ed., is the principal of Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Mrs. Baumgardner graduated from James Madison University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education. She was fortunate to earn a basketball scholarship to attend JMU. She continued her education at Shippensburg University where she served as a graduate assistant while she earned an educational math certification in 1985. She later earned a Master of Education in School Administration in 1996 and her Principals Certification in 2002, also from Shippensburg. In addition, she is a Certified Athletic Administrator and has completed the Pennsylvania Inspired Leadership Program.

Mrs. Baumgardner began her teaching career in 1985 as a junior high mathematics teacher in the Central Dauphin School District. While there she received a Distinguished Service Award. Her next stop was Hummelstown in 1993, where she assumed a position as a high school mathematics teacher in the Lower Dauphin School District. She was the varsity girls’ basketball coach at LD for 11 years. In 2001, Susquehanna Township School District provided her with the opportunity to become the district athletic director which evolved into a dual role as an assistant principal/athletic director. She was named their high school building principal in 2006.  She entered CVSD in 2009 and after serving two years as a grade level principal, was named the building principal in July, 2011.

 Mrs. Baumgardner is a passionate educational leader, an avid reader and enjoys listening to live music. She also enjoys participating and watching a variety of sports and taking care of her animal friends. She values each and every day and what it has to offer.
