Engineering & Industrial Technology

DCNR - Summer Crew

The Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps Summer Program offers young people, ages 15 to 18, the opportunity to serve on a team completing conservation projects to protect, enhance and restore Pennsylvania's public lands. This includes, but is not limited to, trail maintenance, habitat restoration, vegetation management, park maintenance and light construction. Students must be available Monday through Friday for seven weeks during the months of July to August. This internship is paid with transportation to the work site. Breakfast and lunch are provided daily. Interested students should contact Mrs. Consevage for information to apply.

Grade:  This internship opportunity is available to students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 who are 15-18 years of age.


Health

UPMC Harrisburg Hospital

UPMC Pinnacle Health’s student volunteer program is designed to introduce young people age 15 and older to the activities of a hospital. Activities are based on the individual student volunteer's interests and skills.

If selected, parents must attend the interview session with their child. Students must attend the volunteer orientation.

UPMC Carlisle Hospital

The volunteer program is available year round. A minimum of 100 hours of service is required. Applications are available online. Completed applications, along with Recommendation Forms and a completed physical form must be submitted together. If the student is 18 years of age or older, clearances (FBI Background, Child Abuse and PA State Police (http://epatch.state.pa.us) must be submitted with the application. If the applicant turns 18 during the internship, clearances must be obtained at that time. The completed packets are to be returned to UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle Regional Hospital.

Penn State Hershey and Holy Spirit Medical Centers

Penn State Hershey Medical Center is located in Hershey and Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center is located in Camp Hill.   Penn State Hershey and Holy Spirit Medical Centers no longer operates a “Summer Only” volunteer program. The volunteer program is now available year round. There are a variety of opportunities for volunteers. See https://hmc.pennstatehealth.org/community/volunteer for additional information.

A minimum of 50 hours of service is required. Students will be assigned to the same day and time each week. Students must be 16 years of age to apply. All teens are required to submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher.

Human Services

L.E.A.F. (Leadership, Education and Farming)

This summer paid internship affords the opportunity to work with farmers and chefs in the area. Students will work over the summer to help our community become stronger. Click HERE to access the application beginning in March. Students must be 14-18 years old. The internship runs from the middle of June until the middle of August.

Grade: This internship opportunity is available to students in grades 10, 11 and 12.

Whitaker Center Preschool Education

Students will work with the lead teacher during summer camp programs. The program runs Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, however this schedule is flexible. The camps focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) projects. Students must submit a resume to CV's Career Coordinator by April 1. Students will interview with the Whitaker Center and be notified of their acceptance by May 15.

Grade: This internship opportunity is available to students in grades 11 and 12.

World Affairs Council of Harrisburg

Students will work with the Council during the summer. The focus of this internship is learning about international affairs and increasing knowledge of diverse cultures, peoples, languages and lands. It is designed to assist students in succeeding in our modern globalized world. Students apply directly to the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg online. The application process is in the Spring. Interviews will be scheduled, and students will be notified of their acceptance.

Grade: This internship opportunity is available to students in grades 11 and 12.
