It Takes One (ITO) ITO stands for "It Takes One" - referring to the need for bystanders to support targets of bullying behavior. Students who are involved in the club will be trained to be effective active bystanders. The training will involve teaching students to support targets of bullying in a positive way, either when it is happening - only if safe and the student is comfortable- or later by letting the target know they do not support the bullying behavior. Some club members will welcome new students, introduce them to other students, and help them become familiar with the school. We are also planning some activities to pair students who need extra support with club members who can support them. Some members of the club will gain community support and publicize bully prevention efforts at CV. Other club members will be student representatives on our bully prevention team. Another responsibility of club members will be to train others on how to be effective active bystanders and support students who are targets of bullying behavior. Please listen to the morning announcements for meeting details.

Mock Trial
(Competitive Club)
The Mock Trial Competition Team is open to all students who are interested in the legal field, specifically the “court situation.” This is a statewide competition, which is open to all high schools in Pennsylvania. Schools compete in a district competition twice, pleading both the plaintiff and defense of a case written by Temple University Law School. The school having the highest average score of both competitions will then compete in district elimination for the state championship. The winner of the state championship then goes on to National Competition. Students work with a team of lawyers in preparing for the competition. It is sponsored in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Young Trial Lawyers Association. Students taking Business Law and Society as an elective would be very well prepared for the competition although any student may participate. Approximately 80 hours preparation is required after school and on weekends.
